Times tables

In June 2026 children will take a statutory on-screen, 25-question test. This is to check if children can fluently recall their multiplication tables up to 12x12. Please support your child with their recall through homework sheets, songs and Times Table Rock stars related to their weekly times table. We recommend children to play Times Table Rock stars for 5 minutes a day on the garage to aid their recall.

 

Geography 

In geography, we’ll be exploring the rainforests of the world. We will answer the question ‘Why are rainforests important to us?' We also have some fun filled activities planned to enrich the children’s geography learning.

History 

Later in the term, we will be looking at the ancient Maya. We will answer the question ‘How did the achievements of the ancient Maya impact their society and beyond?’ We have the following activities planned to enrich the children’s learning: 

  • Year 3 and 4 production - science focus 

Science

Our topic is 'States of Matter'  

We will learn  to- 

  • Compare and group materials together, according to whether they are solids, liquids or gases.   
  • Observe that some materials change state when they are heated or cooled, and measure or research the temperature at which this happens in degrees Celsius (°C).  
  • Identify the part played by evaporation and condensation in the water cycle and associate the rate of evaporation with temperature

PE

Wednesday and Friday  - Term 3 -  gymnastics  and Term 4 - Volleyball and Tennis 

Please make sure your child comes to school with their swimming costume already on under their uniform. Additionally, ensure they wear the correct PE kit on both days. As always, long hair should be tied up, and earrings must be taped or removed, along with any other jewelery or watches, on PE days. 

 

 

PPA

On Wednesday afternoons, I am out of the classroom for Planning, Preparation and Administration time. The class will be covered by Active Education for PE and Mrs Thornton for RE/ Spanish 

 

 

Homework

Homework is set on a Wednesday and due the following Wednesday. Children can complete their homework on worksheets given or digitally. Login details are in the children’s reading record. Homework will typically include:

  • Daily reading focused on the comprehension of what is read
  • Times Table practice
  • Spelling practice
