Pupil Premium

What is Pupil Premium?:

Pupil Premium is additional funding given to publicly funded schools to help disadvantaged pupils reach their full potential. This funding aims to close the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers. It's allocated to schools based on the number of pupils who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) or have been in the past six years, as well as children previously in care.

  • Funding Allocation:
Schools receive Pupil Premium funding based on the number of eligible pupils on their roll.

  • Eligibility:
Pupils registered for Free School Meals (FSM).

Pupils who have been registered for FSM at any point in the last six years.

Children previously looked after by a local authority or other state care, including those adopted from care.
  • Use of Funds:
Schools have the flexibility to decide how to spend the Pupil Premium funding to best support their eligible pupils. This may include targeted academic support, wider strategies to improve outcomes, and support for mental health and well-being
